Dr. Alice Haynes

Post-Doc

Alice Haynes is a postdoctoral research fellow in the Human Computer Interaction Lab at Saarland University. She carried out her PhD degree in the Soft Robotics Group at the Bristol Robotics Laboratory, UK, creating emotive haptic interfaces for mediating social touch and providing anxiety relief. She received her integrated M.Eng. in Engineering Mathematics from the University of Bristol, where her Master’s thesis was on fabricating and testing a haptic sleeve for translating musical features into touch. Currently, Alice is working on textile-based interfaces, designing responsive and adaptive garments that have shape-changing properties. Her primary research interests are in haptics, wearable interfaces and smart textiles, with a particular focus on how people design for and engage with these devices.
