Description
Technologies actuating the body, such as exoskeletons, have the potential to physically connect performers, musicians, and audiences, creating novel opportunities for artistic interaction. This block seminar explores the development of wearable systems that transfer movement across performers via body-actuating devices in real time, play back algorithmically defined motion patterns, and extend toward AI-driven improvisation.
Activities
The seminar addresses two perspectives: a technical one, focused on building a functional prototype covering aspects such as 3d printing, motor control, latency, and safety; and a conceptual one, investigating which movement forms, feedback types, and interface designs are artistically viable. Prototypes build on an existing exoskeleton toolkit [1], which students will further develop throughout the course. The seminar is supervised by advisors from human-computer interaction, human-robot interaction, and arts & music, and targets bachelor and master students in media informatics, computer science, and related fields.

Requirements
- Students should have passed at least the Interactive Systems and/or Human-Computer Interaction course
- Experience with electronics, e.g., Arduino, and 3d printing are useful
- Creativity
- Willingness to work collaboratively
- Availability in lecture-free time
